I would like to thank the 1242 Green Party members who voted for me 1st
preference to be Deputy Leader in the recent leadership elections. This was just over 40% of the overall valid votes cast.
I would also like to thank my many supporters to whom I am most grateful.
As you are probably aware the election had a gender balance rule which meant that as Natalie Bennett was elected as Leader only the male Deputy ballots were counted at that time.
There has now been a full count of all the votes cast. Members can access the full results here:

I am very proud of the result and hope that this is a reflection of the work I have done at all levels of the party on campaigns, policy, press and elections.
Although I am of course disappointed not to be able to put my ideas into action as Deputy Leader I knew the gender rules were in place when I stood and know that I can still support the party in many ways. I am so impressed by the way the new membership team of Natalie and Will have hit the ground running and made such an impact in terms of media and local party support. I think they make a great team and I look forward to working with them whenever I can be of assistance.

Thank you for visiting my site. I am standing for Green Party Deputy Leader with deep experience in elections, campaigns, policy and media work . I believe the Deputy Leader role is about bringing these things together and offering coherent support and encouragement to local parties. I am super organised and hard working and I listen to people’s needs. I bring people together.
I have support from across the party; from senior figures who have seen my effectivenesss and hard work first hand, to new members who I am thrilled to have inspired during campaigning.
Adrian Ramsay, Green Party Deputy Leader, 2008 to 2012.
Caroline has shown that she has the skills and qualities we need from a Deputy Leader. She understands policy thoroughly and can effectively communicate our stance on particular issues and the wider Green vision. She was an effective and inspiring candidate in the recent London Assembly elections. Caroline is clearly a team player who works well with local parties and campaign groups and can unite people behind our cause.
Please vote for Caroline Allen to be our new Deputy Leader.
Mustafa Korel, recent member and Hackney Campaigner Coordinator.
Campaigning with Caroline has been inspirational – both to me and our local party, and it’s changed us for the better. She really brought the campaign together and injected it with life that I think we needed at that point. She encourages and sees potential and opportunity and I think this quality is what calls people to action.

Above all though my style is inclusive and supportive, no nonsense and down-to-earth. Local activists need someone to stand alongside them, not stand over them, to nurture the grassroots and to bring people together.
That’s what politics is all about – persuading more and more people that our better future is their better future too.
We must urgently articulate our positive alternative. There is no time to lose.
We’re in the middle of the worst financial crisis since the 1930s and millions of people are struggling. None of the grey parties are really questioning austerity and the fire sale of public services to the highest bidder. The urgent environmental crises we face seem almost forgotten.
Its time Greens spoke up loud and clear: it doesn’t have to be like this.
This is what drives me and I believe I have the skills to take the party forwards:
- I have a proven track record as a campaigner and candidate; I’ve played a part in galvanising local parties in my part of the capital and in the recent GLA elections scored the best constituency result of any Green with nearly 30 thousand votes, helping propel Jenny Jones into her historic 3rd place in the Mayoral elections.
- Deep understanding of policy and policy development, having been on Policy Committee for 3 years. I have taken the lead in bringing large areas of policy up to date; I led on rewriting science, food &agriculture and countryside policy. My scientific background has proved invaluable.
- I am a teamworker and a passionate believer in its importance. It is essential, both within the party and in my work as a vet.
- As an experienced speaker, confident and credible, I am proud to represent the party externally. I speak for the party on animal issues, which are very important to me, and have addressed dozens of meetings.
But don’t take my word for it.
Please read the opinions of people I have worked with in the party.
And see more about my plans; from supporting local parties to grow and succeed, continuing to make policy more relevant and getting it out there and expanding our members and supporters.
And dont hesitate to contact me with any queries or questions.
